Building Community

Wonder World Childcare Kindergarten will be a strong part of our local communities and strives to build relationships with community groups such as local council children and family support service, Thornbury Primary School and Bell Primary School.

We want our children to feel a part of the wider community and develop a deep understanding of the world around them. We welcome parents to participate in some activities such as: community gathering in park, gardening, cooking, excursions, helping to knead, sewing, music or art, in the classroom with some gentle guidelines. We work collaboratively with parents and incorporate their beliefs, skills, interests and values into our environment.

  • Food
    program
Families are encouraged to contribute to the healthy eating program of fruits in the Centre and bring one fruit to share weekly.
  • Gardening
    program
Families are invited to participate in the gardening program of seasonal gardening experiences and welcome to bring any seasonal vegetable to share especially in autumn.
  • Gatherings
Families are invited to share cultural events and participate in seasonal celebrations. Please let educators know about your family culture celebrations. There are a few large gatherings for families throughout the year.
  • Sharing Steiner Approach
There is an urgency to share the Steiner Approach in our community as Steiner Approach brings children healthy growing experiences and nurtures children’s body, emotional development/soul and spirits with love devoted from adults in their environment. Those learning experiences lay the strong foundations for their future learning and their entire life wellbeing. We want to share the Steiner Approach and our vision with parents so more parents and children can benefit from the Steiner Approach.

Many children have difficulty concentrating and sitting still nowadays. This is because our modern cultural environment affects our children, pollution in food, air and water, over stimulation, commercial food, materialism/plastic toys, aimless- entertaining, and technology. Those factors deeply affect children’s healthy development. So how we can provide the right environment and meaningful activities to our children and avoid modern cultural influences are challenging tasks for parents and Steiner Early Childhood Professionals.
